Dear Free Store Friends and Supporters:
It is with a very heavy heart that I write to inform you that the Brooklyn Free Store was burned to the ground on Saturday afternoon. We are saddened and disappointed by this turn of events; however, we are planning to rebuild the Free Store in a new location in the very near future. Please visit our tumblr and facebook page often for information on ways you can help us ensure that Brooklyn continues to have a Free Store.

We are going to Madison!!! Driving cross-country, follow us as we take interviews on the road and bring our solidarity to the heart of the country. We need your help to pay for gas! It will be a nearly 2000 mile trip we figure we can get there and back on $400.00
DIY Feminist collective is a group of womyn and male allies based in NYC who are building community and challenging traditional power structures such as hierarchical and sexist oppression in the work place. We feel a particular solidarity with the labor movement in WI for several reasons: Some of us have family whose livelihood are being directly targeted, we also realize that this will greatly effect teachers and librarians, traditionally female dominated careers, we also see this pitting of public against private sector workers as an attempt to keep the working class from forming an effective challenge to the wealthy corporate powers.

The Free Store is looking awesome but there are still some small things that need to be completed. We are having a Free Store work day on Wednesday, February 9th at 10:30 am with a rain date scheduled for Friday, February 11th at 10:30 am. If you’re free come give us a hand. See you soon!

Come help us finish the Free Store structure. All that is left to do is putting the roof on. The roof is built we just need to “raise” it!

We are finally building a structure for the free store and we need your help!
This week we are having two work days. The first will be to clean and prep (likely on Wednesday, December 22nd at 1pm) and the second will be to begin building (on Thursday, December 23rd - All Day). Any time you can give will be greatly appreciated! If you have screw guns bring them! Hope to see you all there!
